Mazda CX-70 vs Mazda CX-90 – What's The Difference?

Two rows or three? Take your pick.

The 2025 Mazda CX-70 arrives in the spring of 2024 as the CX-90's five-seat offspring. With cargo-carrying intentions, the CX-70 adds rear underfloor storage that takes the position of the CX-90's foldable third row.

For the most part, however, the CX-70 mirrors the CX-90. Exterior dimensions are virtually identical. Powertrains – from the 280-horsepower turbocharged hybrid inline-six in the GS, GS-L, and GT to the 340-horsepower version of the same in the GT-P and Signature to the plug-in hybrid – are carbon copies. What you get in the CX-90 you also get in the CX-70.

The trim level designations are a bit different in Canada. For example, there's no CX-70 GS in either hybrid or PHEV variants, while the CX-90 does offer entry-level GS versions. Also, every hybrid CX-70 is rated to tow up to 5,000 pounds while getting 5,000 pounds of towing capacity in the CX-90 requires moving up to the GT, GT-P, or Signature. But there are far, far more similarities than there are differences.
