All-New 2026 Mazda CX-5: Release Date, Specs, Dimensions
July 10 2025, Centennial Mazda

Over 300,000 CX-5s have been sold in Canada since the model's debut 13 years ago. The launch of an all-new model for the 2026 model year will mark the arrival of the third-generation CX-5.
Although the MX-5 Miata is the heart and soul of Mazda, the CX-5 is the breadwinner. In 2024, over one-third of Mazda Canada's sales – and nearly one-third of Mazda's U.S. volume – were generated by the CX-5, a hugely successful SUV at an increasingly successful brand.
Yet now the CX-5 gets even better.
The all-new 2026 Mazda CX-5 is due to arrive in the spring of 2026, first with SkyActiv-G engine and then with a hybrid powertrain in 2027.
That SkyActiv-G 2.5-liter engine produces 187 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque; Mazda links this with a 6-speed automatic and makes i-Activ all-wheel drive standard in every trim level. For 2026, the SkyActiv-G 2.5 delivers the reliability owners have come to expect from the CX-5 but with a re-tune for sharper throttle response and quieter operation.
The new 2026 CX-5 grows by 4.5 inches in terms of overall length; it's also half an inch wider than before. The doors open wider; there's more leg, knee, and headroom in the rear seat; and the liftover height into the enlarged cargo area is conveniently lower, too.
More high-end features will make their way into the 2026 CX-5, including an available panoramic sunroof and a 15.6-inch integrated touchscreen with Google built-in accompanied by Gemini AI. The goal is smartphone-like usability, but it's also stunning to behold.
Stunning certainly describes the CX-5's new exterior, as well. The photos speak for themselves.
